ISTT Update Sheet November 2008

The new management committee has hit the ground running for the 2008-09 term. Among the things decided at its first meeting in November is an effort to encourage use of the web-page supported by the Institute. Of course it is your page so why not use it.

Discussions for the use of the page include an invitation to firms wishing to advertise their Practices on the Site. While charges have not been determined, comments are invited from members.

Another topic of interest is of course this information sheet as a means of keeping in touch with the membership and making them aware of the activities of the Committee.

At the AGM, issues of amendments to the Constitution were aired. There was some consensus that a comprehensive review of the document should be undertaken. The main issue at the time was the fixing of a quorum for the AGM and probably special and ordinary general meetings. Maybe there are other issues that you will like to have considered. Let us have your thoughts in the matter, and/or comments on this one.

The institute is actively pursuing the establishment of courses for technicians through the UTT. Would you have an interest in the training of Technicians?

The Institute is involved in the Commission of Enquiry as a member of the JCC. Do you have a position on this? Do you have a contribution to make that can be channelled through the JCC? Please let us know.
