The Institute of Surveyors of Trinidad and Tobago was formed in 1996 when the Land Surveyors Association of Trinidad and Tobago and the Quantity Surveyors Society of Trinidad and Tobago were formally merged. The Association of Professional Valuation and Land Economy Surveyors of Trinidad and Tobago later joined in 1998.

The aims of the Institute are to support the needs and requirements of its Members; to develop and promote the surveying profession; and to foster links and good relations with other professional organizations.

ISTT Management Engages in Historic Review Exercise

On Saturday June 18, 2011, an expanded Management Committee of ISTT went into an historic half-day retreat at the Crews Inn restaurant, Chaguaramas, to review the role of the ISTT. This activity was prompted by the need for the ISTT to reposition itself to remain a vibrant institution, relevant and supportive to its many members, amidst the economic slowdown in Trinidad and Tobago today. In addition, new market and social conditions have added to the imperative for readjustment of our Institution. The deliberations of the retreat culminated in the provision of a Charter Plan … "The Way Forward", including the drafting of Vision and Mission Statements.

Kenneth Sturge, Land Surveyor

Kenneth Sturge was born on the 10th September 1933. He graduated from QRC in 1951 with a Grade 1 in Senior Certificate and entered Survey School in October of that same year.

Land Conference 2011 – Land Ownership in Trinidad and Tobago: Issues and Challenges

 

The Department of Geomatics Engineering and Land Management, in collaboration with the ISTT, hosted an extremely successful conference entitled Land Conference 2011: Land Ownership in Trinidad and Tobago: Issues and Challenges.  The conference was well attended by members of the ISTT, government officials and the wider public.  Many ISTT members, academic staff of the Department of Geomatics Engineering and Land Management and representatives of government land related departments delivered informative and thought-provoking papers.  The papers and presentations can be viewed at http://sta.uwi.edu/conferences/11/landtenure/index.asp


In Memoriam of Dr. David Neale

Dr. David Neale passed away on June 7 2011. David was a hydrographic surveyor by profession and a member of the Institute of Surveyors of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Land Survey Board of Trinidad and Tobago (LSBTT) together with the Institute of Surveyors of Trinidad and Tobago (ISTT), presented a seminar on Adverse Possession on Land at the Normandie Hotel, St. Ann’s Port of Spain on Sunday 16th May 2010, 8:30am – 2:00pm.

Many members and non-members were in attendance.  Attached we now provide the presentations of Mr. Colvin Blaize and Mr. Lyndon Antoine.

The President, Mr. Afra Raymond has requested that the ISTT membership meet in order to adopt a position regarding the Property Tax before its implementation in January.

The meeting is scheduled for December 17th 2009 in the Meeting Room of the Professional Centre at 5 p.m. This meeting will be considered a CPD Event.
